Cavalor Hoof Aid promotes healthy hoof growth and hoof quality.
Cavalor Hoof Aid is a nutritional supplement to maintain good hoof quality and to improve hoof strength. It contains highly available biotin, vitamin A, vitamin D3, and zinc, important ingredients for good hoof growth and development. Cavalor Hoof Aid also contains methionine, an amino acid that plays an important role in hoof development.
Cavalor Hoof Aid combines highly available biotin with high amounts of vitamins A and D3. Vitamin A promotes hoof wall development. Coronet inflammations are linked to vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin D3 plays an important role in metabolism and hoof tissue development. Cavalor Hoof Aid also contains zinc, calcium carbonate, and methionine. Zinc aids in the synthesis of keratin to promote strong, sturdy hooves. Zinc also supports the building and repair of tissue cells in the hoof and hoof wall. Calcium plays a role in the synthesis of disulfides – these bridge proteins in the hoof wall. Methionine is an essential, sulphur-containing amino acid that supports hoof flexibility.
The hoof wall grows from the coronet and takes about 2 months before the new hoof is noticeably visible. We recommend using Cavalor Hoof Aid for at least 3–6 months. Cavalor Hoof Aid is especially recommended for horses suffering from mild hoof problems or reduced hoof quality. For horses with very poor hoof quality, we recommend Cavalor Hoof Aid Special.
Recommended use for Cavalor Hoof Aid: 30g per day.
Maximum: 100g per horse per day.
Biotin – is that all a hoof needs?
Biotin, also called vitamin H or vitamin B8, is an essential water-soluble B vitamin often used as a supplement for horses with weak hoof quality. Although there have been few studies to verify the effectiveness of biotin on horses and the results have been mixed, many horses have had visibly improved hoof quality after taking biotin. Biotin is naturally present in grass and Cavalor feeds are enriched with biotin to promote healthy hoof growth. Biotin is also produced by some gut bacteria.
It is not yet known exactly how much biotin a horse needs, but an unbalanced diet can cause deficiencies. Experience has shown that a minimum dose of 25–30 mg biotin per day is required to have a real effect.
