If necessary, shave the affected area.
First, wash the leg with a disinfectant shampoo, such as Cavalor Derma Wash.
Before applying Cavalor MudDoc, dry the fetlock with a cloth.
Cavalor MudDoc should be used daily.
Continue using Cavalor MudDoc as long as needed to prevent recurrence of the lump.

Lump is undoubtedly the most recognizable skin disease in horses. Lump is actually a nonspecific collection of skin inflammations (dermatitis) that occur primarily on the horses' pasterns. The most noticeable symptoms are redness, peeling, crusting, and cracks in the skin of the fetlock. This area is often warm and moist, allowing bacteria to multiply rapidly.
A lump can be caused by various factors. It can be caused by dirt, mud, insects, or frequent washing of cracked skin, which is susceptible to bacterial infections.
