Feed as you need
The foundation of good nutrition for your horse is adequate roughage and access to fresh drinking water. Supplement this base with concentrates or a balancer depending on the individual nutritional needs of the horse. Use supplements to fine tune.
Feeding recommendations for Cavalor Mash & Mix
To prepare Cavalor Mash & Mix, mix 1 part mash with 1 part water (60 °C). Leave to soak for 15 minutes. We recommend feeding, per 100 kg of body weight, a minimum of 200 g and a maximum of 300 g per day. For a horse of 600 kilograms, this means a minimum of 1.2 kg and a maximum of 1.8 kg per day. Cavalor Mash & Mix can be given in addition to roughage and concentrates as a supplement or treat. It is also suitable as a supplement to roughage for older horses or horses with dental problems.
Rehydrate
A 500-kg horse drinks an average of 25 to 30 litres of water every day. Fluid intake needs to be much higher at high temperatures and for working horses and lactating mares. Some horses refuse to drink during movement or transport. A mash is the ideal way to ensure that the horse gets more fluids.
With flaked and puffed cereals
With flaked and puffed cereals for easy digestion. Flaked cereals are much easier to digest than unprocessed cereals. Puffed cereals are even easier to digest. Puffed cereals are heat-treated, disentangling up to 90% of the starch. This makes the cereals twice as digestible compared to unprocessed cereals. Puffed cereals have many other benefits compared to unprocessed cereals, such as slower release of energy, fewer sugar peaks, lower risk of digestive problems like colic or gastric ulcers, more nutrients and energy in a smaller amount of feed, more flavour, longer gastric retention, and slower release in the small intestine.
Easy to chew
Soaking the mash helps soften the ingredients, making them easy to chew.
