Salt lick for horses: healthy supplement and enrichment in the stable

Salt licks for horses come in different shapes and sizes. They often contain salt as the main ingredient and are sometimes supplemented with other trace elements such as magnesium. In contrast to the diet of humans, the diet of horses often contains too little salt. By hanging a salt lick in the stable or pasture, you give your horse the opportunity to supplement his own salt needs. Replenishing salt licks with electrolytes

When your horse sweats a lot, it loses a lot of other electrolytes besides fluid and salt. You can’t supplement these with a salt lick alone, because salt licks don’t contain all the necessary electrolytes. It is therefore important to give your horse an electrolyte supplement as an extra supplement after high-intensity training in which your horse has sweated a lot (even in winter).
